A good starting point for Flash animation is to create cartoon flipbooks. The stop action photographic studies of Edward Muybridge, the nineteenth century photographer, provide a ready source. One of his most famous studies is the galloping horse.

Start by using Photoshop or any other photo editing software to create separate files from each of the first eleven pictures. Make sure to name the pictures numerically. The first picture appears below.


Create a new Flash file. Select File --> Import to Stage (or press Command - R)
You will see the following dialog box. Click Yes.

To view the movie in Flash, select Control --> Play or Control --> Test Movie
To create a web page, select File --> Publish.
